Living in Sacha

Living in Sacha

It was in SachaDham, India that I had the first private meeting with ShantiMayi.
In that conversation, she expressed a broad spectrum of possibilities that life seemed to have “in stock” for me. Her words spoken in these precious moments are still echoing in waves of ever deepening disclosure. I remember her saying: “You are going to initiate people into Gayatri Mantra.” Freshly entering the realm of the Sacha lineage, I did not understand what she was speaking about, and replied: “What is the Gayatri Mantra?” “We will make an intensive.” she said, “And you will be deeply introduced.”
In one way, I intuited instantly that I had stumbled upon a sacredness and profundity beyond comprehension. Yet due through sticky conditioning, I went through an unbelievable restlessness that evening in my room, turning and twisting all night long in my bed: “What did she say? Would I be able to live up to whatever she was speaking about? Did she expect something from me and would not love me anymore if I was disappointing her?” The funny thing was that I felt very uncomfortable at the same time, being entangled in such a doubtful mind-fight, while ShantiMayi must be right. How could I doubt my Guru’s Wisdom? Shame!

I know everything!
I had heard that the Gayatri Mantra was chanted every morning in SachaDham. So the next morning I went there. We must have been halfway the mala of mantras, when suddenly the door of the mandir (temple) was opened and someone walked in quite decisively. It was ShantiMayi. I didn’t dare to look at her. She took place on her asan, took the bowl and struck it firmly. The sangha was silenced in an instant. Then Her eyes pierced into mine, she spoke loud: “I told you that you where going to initiate people into Gayatri Mantra. Don’t think I don’t know. I know everything!” She struck the bowl again, and the chanting was continued. I was left dumfounded, and realized that simply being in love with ones Master, it is useless to entertain painful thinking as if there could be separation or doubt anywhere. I sank into a deep peace and felt openness for all to come beyond “me” needing to be anything at all. I just knew that all would be revealed in this unconditional Love, Grace and Wisdom.

All is God
During the Gayatri intensive, I got an awesome inclination of the vast work of the Sankulp of the Sacha Lineage: May all beings Wake Up! May all sentient beings turn towards God. I felt tiny and glorious at the same time. By now the Gayatri Mantra was resonating in the cells of my body as if my body were completely transparent. I cannot even limit this transparency to the physical phenomenon…. all that was observed had lost its density, thoughts included. Every experience had lost its “location”. I felt free and could not wait to go home and bring the mantra to all that would wish to learn it.
Ever since we are chanting the Gayatri Mantra a fixed time in the week in Holland and Paris, and it has never happened that no one showed up. People are asking for initiation and intensives are carried out. Many are touched and recognize in an instant this old old chant of Hearts. It invokes the right remembrance: All is God, we are One! In other words; it invokes freedom of the notion of separation. Where would you draw the line?

The sky is the limit
The Gayatri Mantra is such a powerful gift that opens up to the realm of imagination and to live in loving freedom from the Silence of the Heart for all to shine.
Being with ShantiMayi has et al brought about a great awareness of the boundlessness of possibilities in the appearance of life’s experiences. She would say: “The sky is the limit!”, and shows a living example of playfulness and vivid imagination that indeed One cannot be hindered by anything… I realized that this is Pure Love, because the sky does not hold any opinion and includes all.

“My” life is lived in one simple prayer ever since she introduced me to the sentiment and power of the Gayatri Mantra: to live in service for the awakening of all sentient beings.

This is living in Sacha.

Yes, she knew it: the key that opens the doors………. to the wide open sky.
